What data we collect

PromptHike collects no personal data. Specifically:

• We do not collect your name, email, or any identifying information.
• We do not store your prompts or the optimized results.
• We do not have any backend server or database.
• We do not use analytics or tracking of any kind.

API keys

When you enter an API key (Anthropic, OpenRouter, Groq, or Gemini), it is stored exclusively in chrome.storage.local — a sandboxed storage area on your own device. This means:

• Your key never leaves your browser except in direct API requests to the provider you selected.
• The key is never sent to any PromptHike server (none exists).
• Only the background service worker in the extension can read the key — the content script injected into web pages cannot access it.

Prompt text

When you click optimize, the text of your prompt is sent directly from your browser to the AI provider's API (e.g. api.anthropic.com, api.groq.com). This request goes point-to-point — it does not pass through any PromptHike server. The prompt text is subject to the privacy policy of whichever provider you use.

Local storage

PromptHike uses chrome.storage.local to store the following data locally on your device only:

• Your API keys (one per provider)
• Your selected provider and optimization mode
• Aggregate usage stats (number of prompts optimized, tokens saved)
• Per-site enable/disable toggles

None of this data is transmitted anywhere.

Third-party services

PromptHike routes your API calls to whichever provider you configure. Each provider has its own privacy policy:

• Anthropic Privacy Policy
• OpenRouter Privacy Policy
• Groq Privacy Policy
• Google Privacy Policy (Gemini)

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the extension after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
